Spell: Form of the great Bear for barbarians.
 

The spell currently turns barbarian shamans into a grizzly bears when it should turn them into Polar bears.

I thought both versions of the spell were introduced in velious?

Can recall casting the brown bear, feeling it was rubbish and then not bothering with the high lvl version. Bit vague about it tbh(memory)

nope Spell:form of the bear, was released in lucin, that spell was grizzly only, form of the great bear should be Barbarian> Polar Bear, Ogre > Grizzly, Troll/Iksar > Kodiak. Right now its only grizzy for all.

It is difficult to find discussion on this very specific detail, but I did find a page where in 2005 there was a poll to upgrade bear form models. Some people discussed how they were tired of the polar bear smile. Other posts suggested only barbarians changed to polar bears and other races were consistent with Raden's post.

For some reason I remember Iksar being Grizzly, because I thought Troll was the only black bear. But just what I remember seeing, my Ikky Shaman was never high enough to get the spell on live.

Oh, just read one of the forums Telin linked, they're saying Iksar were black aswell. Guess I was just remembering wrong.

white bear for barb makes sense but for some reason i ONLY remember the grizzly model on shaman. maybe my server was all ogres tho, i dunno.

Are they able to code in different effects based on race with one spell ID?

They did it on live so there must be a way.
