Aggro on Invis v Animals (Goblin Gazughi Ring)
This is mostly from my experience on EQMac, but there is evidence of it elsewhere as well. But basically, IvA should have a higher than normal aggro component. Not something like a heal or rune, just quite a bit more than an invis.
Generally speaking this is a non-issue, since most abilities or melee DPS will outdo a Druid or ranger spamming it. However if you have a Goblin Gazughi Ring, spam clicking it for several minutes is a HUGE hate boost on every mob you have aggroed. Similar to a bard using PBAE snare/slow (note it does nothing for a bard, as no clickies can generate hate beyond a base initial aggressive action point) Evidence: EQMac http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=shRteJaPMXw# That video lays out and shows how it's done. He is keeping aggro off wizards casting Winds of Gelid a few times after spam clicking Goblin Gazughi Ring for 10~min. Druids Grove: http://thedruidsgrove.org/archive/eq/t-6108.html Quote:

It was somewhat of a well kept secret back in the day, but a few of these quotes say it's been going on forever. Yes I realize that they are all a few years past our era, and some of them mention the CT revamp boots that have an identical clicky. But Goblin Gazughi Ring worked the same way with the minor change that you had to target yourself. |
Bump.
Invis v Animals should have a 5-10ish hate value, allowing Goblin Gazughi Ring spam to be a viable way to hold aggro on a kite. Not all that useful or unbalanced for tanks considering they'd have to target themselves and every time someone invises it drops them from your target unless you have See Invis up (even for IvA and IvU) |
work the same for earthen boots?
|
Correct. It's the spell that has the extra aggro built into.
Any click with the spell benefits from that. |

Fellow Classic Aficionado, Ele the Great, concurs with this bug post. Make it so. |

Interesting. There was a few aggro revamps between classic and those dates of those posts - did you find anything saying this worked this way in classic-velious?
|
No more than people found evidence of level 1s turning in epics in Kunark-Velious :/.
Several of those posts say it's been going on for some time. It became a lot more known once the mosquito boots came out with the CT revamp from just after Luclin. But the Gazughi ring works the same way. The middle post from SOE boards is in early 2005 (January). Saying it's been going on for atleast 3 years. Which is about when the mosquito boots became common and people started messing with it since they weren't must equip and didn't require a target. But before that the higher than normal aggro value was in. I do actually need to test the aggro value on the ring currently though to suggest where it should be at. Edit: and I looked and didn't see any patch notes in the 1999-2004 range that noted changes in aggro functionality other than specific fixes or the change the DA aggro. |
Yes. It does look like it should add some additional aggro.
Will see what is doable. I have a large list of things in progress right now. Trying to finish some optimizations up before the stress test. Oh, and work. And kids (3 of the 4 and under) H |
