Ratraz-Neriak 3rd Gate
 

Unless I'm mistaken, Ratraz the troll was never assisted by the merchants and guards when you killed him back in the old days or at least they never did when I killed him back then. And it seems according to the old Allakhazam archives it seems to mention that he never did get assisted by the merchants or guards. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.

Yeah no one should assist Ratraz.

He was a premium camp for lowbies because he dropped good loot and plat, had a 6min respawn time, and could repair the faction hits with the red wine.

At least I'm not crazy then, cause both merchants and guards assist him atm.. scared the the shit out of me when a merchant and 2 guards came after me lol Thank god for FD

And yeah why are the guards assisting a lowly degenerate like Ratraz?

From what I can tell, guards should assist Ratraz because he is on DarkBargainers faction. The merchants should not, and that is fixed, pending update.

Pending update:

Corrected various neriakc factions where vendors would assist guards or npcs. They are now on their own table without assists.

While its true Ratraz is on The DarkBargainers faction, he was never assisted by the guards.

As for help on the research about it

Everlore's website says no one will attack you while fighting him which would be easy for a guard to assist cause theres a guard by the jeweler in 3rd gate and most necros who kill him fear kite him

There is also a fourm message on the Alla archive that mentions that there was a patch that made the guards assist him and then another post 5 days later saying that it was a lie that he killed him just fine without any guards assisting

Also on the quest page that he is actually for, there is a post that mentions he's not very hard to kill and nothing aggros when he runs which means guards(since there is a guard pretty much right outside the door from the bar aka outside the jeweler building thats right next door) on Oct 6th 2000

I had Iago, merchant in East Karana assist Guard Miranda when I fought her. Are merchants assisting people on P99 everywhere? :(

If this is the case, it can't easily be recreated without quite a bit of effort. To make guards assist certain DarkBargainers, and not others, that would mean two different darkbargainers factions, then it wouldn't make sense.

I found this guy on eqlive, and didn't see where he pathed by guards, but on p99, he does.

If someone gets time, make a dark elf on eqlive, and fight his guy near a guard to see what happens.

Sporadically, yes. I did the query to isolate these, but it will take time to implement fixes. There are quite a few, in different zones.

I just logged on live and fought Ratraz right next to a guard and he just stood there and watched.

Honestly I don't know how the devs made Ratraz to be non-assistable and yet still give negative guard and merchant faction to Neriak but apparently they did

Also, are we certain the guards will assist the darkbringers anyway? Afterall they are the merchants and people don't normally go around attacking merchants.. Or at least not from my memory since merchants don't attack you and you have no real reason to attack them.

I just read some old necro guides and they say no one assists Ratraz. I am guessing the guards do not assist Darkbargainers.
