Anyone need all the old midi?

I just double checked and I have a folder with all of the classic songs and they're actually in midi format. This could be helpful for people who are looking for replacing newer sound files like the login song etc. Just post then PM me your email. I'd host it but I'm lazy.

I just thought this would be an easy way to give back a little bit to the community.

There are a few repositories of the old EQ Music available online.
A quick Google yeilded:
https://sites.google.com/site/everqu...est-midi-files
http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/midi/

When I was playing on EQ Mac someone made a post about laurasmidiheaven.com.
That MIDI site seems to be down now but it had a fine collection of Everquest music.

In the same thread Utdaan says this:

Some people here already know this. I was on some of the original EQ music that was done with a live orchestra. I was playing with a very good community orchestra in San Diego at the time SOE hired some of us to record some tracks. A lot of it was just MIDI (electronic sampled instrumental sounds) but some was live musicians. I didn't know what it was for at the time (I knew it was SOE, but they kept things all hush hush) and didn't figure it out until I got EQMac and the patch for the updated Miles library back in 2003/04 and I heard the combat music. Most of us never played with sound on because there was a bug that either crashed EQ or you lagged down to less than one frame per second. I still remember the first time I heard the combat music (which was me playing 2 different tracks on trombone along with a buddy that laid down 2 french horn tracks) I freaked out in guild chat. Of course, that ended up beign my least favorite track. Most fun was BoT upper courtyard music.

Yeah I remembered that thread specifically, I couldn't find it though but I'm retard sometimes. I had gotten all of mine from someone so I wasn't sure if they were commonly available. I'm also very dubious about downloading anything from a website I haven't been to often.

Unfortunately I HAD what Utdaan needed, I basically had five or six different installs of Everquest in separate folders from various hard drives cannibalized from my friends who played and quit at various intervals as well as a huge library of the EQ music because my friend was obsessed with EQ lore and music but that computer went down in flames. I was actually hoping I still had some of the later ones for him but all I could find was the midi folder. Bummer.

Well the EQ Mac forums are shut down so it's not an easy find. Google had a cached copy of the page which is where I copy/pasted from.

I'd love to get the old midis, especially for the combat music. Is it as simple as pasting them to the music folder in my eq directory? i get the feeling that my technical ineptitude will inevitably lead to a nuclear launch somewhere.

Question about the combat music:

This is the music I remember:

DUUUUUUUM... DAAAAAAAA... DA-DAAAAAAAAAA, DAAAAAAAAA, DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

This is the music on p99:

DUM DUM, DA DA, DAY DO, DAY DO

Which is classic? Am I remember the first because they changed the music around Luclin or something and that's the most recent one?

Classicly, I remember there being multiple combat themes, and I wasn't sure if the choice was random or area-specific. There was one with rolling tympani and one more organ-y and a snare drum (a faster-paced EQ main theme), and maybe one other.

We're stuck with the Titanium one I think. At first listen it might appear to be classic, however its definitely...

Every time I check the forums I keep thinking this thread says, Anyone ever need to meet me, Timmy, at the old mill?

I'm sure everyone knows that deleting eqtheme.mp3 will play the original classic theme. The character select will not play. When it did, it used to change slightly based on race selection like louder drums for evil races and a flute for good races. The combat themes rotated between 3 versions. The only way to emulate this right now is by making a single mp3 with all 3 tracks playing in a row. Sadly you'll only hear the first one in most cases.
