I always liked the way Rift did their class system, how you could mix and match and some hybrid builds were very effective for solo'ing or small groups. Then you could go max DPS and forgo utility for raids/full groups, etc.

That's one way (and the only way to get into alpha), or you c an check around on various sites to see about getting a free beta key. Beta servers are coming backup next weekend so a few sites will probably be giving out keys all week long.

Is it that beta weekend nonsense or is it persistent now? Fucking hated that garbage with ESO, only being able to play every other weekend or whatever. Ruined my immersion.

Classes are put together allot better than Rift, haven't really found any back-braking OP builds. But don't think you can switch back and forth ya can't, you have to earn a lvl's worth of exp to learn that skill. So if you want a lvl 5 required ability, than you have to earn 5 lvl's with that skillset in your build for you to learn that ability.

I think it's ok when you have OP builds that are very specialized...the key is having options and not having set builds always be the best in every situation like WoW.

The beta servers are only opened what appears to be every other week end right now.

Also for the skill sets I believe once you do earn that skill even if you switch to another class and then come back later you'll still know it. So you can jump around to different classes if you want, and not have to worry about starting completely from the beginning if oyu decide to go back.
