Inert Potion Quest

I've had a lot of problems trying to do this quest. (Forum history indicates others have as well.)

I've only found the Slansin up that looks like the merchant. According to the wiki, this should be the version that only gives positive faction, but when I turn in the potion, he depops and gives the Craftkeepers and Heretics faction.

I logged in today and saw the merchant version again, so I killed him. However, I gained Craftskeepers and Heretics faction and lost High Council/High Guard of Erudin faction which seems odd.

Every time I try to trigger Slansin and receive the potion, Slansin does not trigger. I just have to wait a few hours for Slansin to spawn again.

Can this be looked into, as I'm not sure this quest is functioning how it should be?

It seems that possibly both Slansins might be showing up as a merchant and are on a timer rather than triggerable if not up?

The Slansin you want to turn in the potion to is the fake Slansin that wears the robe and has a last name. Slansin Devlin or something like that. He is spawned by telling Toresian that you will study enchantment. When I was doing this quest a couple weeks ago there would pretty often be either two copies of the fake dude, or one fake dude and the real Slansin who is an erudite merchant. I never had to kill anything to get one to spawn.

I have told Toresian I wish to study enchantment/I wish to assist Toresian, and nothing spawns.

Is there an amount of time I have to wait for Slansin to spawn after talking to Toresian?

It was always immediate for me, so it may be broken.

Tested again today. No instant spawn.

It's never worked for me, though I've only tried to do the quest 3 or 4 different times.

I had the exact same problem today. Only Slansin up was merchant one.
Gave shitty faction hit on quest.
Can't get either to spawn.
If the merchant/crap one is the real one, I was told he is supposed to spawn out the back, he didn't he spawned out the front.

Shall we post a new thread if this one has been ignored?

EDIT: Regular annoying Slansin re-popped in the 2 hours I expected. Still can't trigger fake regardless of whether real is up or down.
Real should also be out the back of the shop according to fake slansins dialogue no?

Yeah, I checked today, and to confirm everyone else's finding, Fake Slansin doesn't seem to be triggering properly.

I had to go buy sky stones yesterday, and the quest was working correctly, and only one fake slansin was up. Not sure what's going on with this.
