Help - I suck at computers

Took an older lap-top, reformatted it and all that good stuff. Have it 99.9% up and running, only issue is when I try and run the Windows Update ONE thing won't update.

It's the "Microsoft .net framework 4.5.1". I tried downloading it manually and still didn't work. The code error just reads "A fatal error occurred" and is code643. I googled the shit out of it, but couldn't find anything helpful besides to run the Repair, and Fixit which both didn't do shit.

I wouldn't give a shit but I start a computer coding class tomorrow and I assume we're going to use Microsoft Visual Studio which itself tries to update to 4.5.1 and won't download because of an error.

If anyone else has had this problem, or heard of it, any help at all would be top notch shit. Thanks homies.

It might be helpful to know what operating system you are running.

Just redo the install. Only takes a few hours.

Windows 7. My bad.

I don't feel like doing a re-install cause I don't have the CD's anymore, gave em back, but if thats all I can do then guess I don't have a choice.

I've found for big reinstall/updates on windows sometimes problems happen if using wifi. Admittedly this was with 98, but it might be worth trying running update again but on an Ethernet cable if you haven't tried to do so already.

Download the offline installer .net 4 is notorious for this. You can google search for it. This problem has happened to me everytime i image/setup a pc.

Should wipe it and install Linux on it. I'm sure updating it will be much easier then.
