New laptop, P1999 -will not- load on dedicated card...

I posted this over in the P1999 reddit page also, hoping for a solution.

I'm literally about to pull my hair out. I've played P1999 before without issue. I've just been fortunate enough to upgrade to a brand new gaming laptop with an 870m that has decimated every game I've thrown at it, except of course for classic Everquest -_-.

I cannot, for the life of me, get this game to run on the 870m, it keeps loading with the integrated Intel card and promptly crashing or bugging out. I've added eqgame.exe to the override list in the Nvidia control panel. Hell, I've added the entire folder containing all the .exes into the override list. I've right clicked my P1999 icon and forcibly told it to run on the Nvidia card, and it still doesn't.

Please halp. I've never had this problem and it is completely maddening. I gave my outgoing laptop to my nephew so until I figure this out, I can't get my crack fix.

Edit: I just want to point out that I do use the Nvidia activity widget which shows when every other game I play is using the Nvidia card, but it will never show EQ, because it's trying to use the Intel despite my best efforts. And for whatever reason, when it loads on the Intel GPU it bugs out / glitches / crashes.

Furthermore, even the integrated Intel GPU should be capable of running this game very well, although my preference would be for it to load on the Nvidia. What would be causing the game to crash the Intel driver and glitch out/generally be unplayable? I am using actually the same combo drivers as the outgoing computer that P1999 worked fine on (which I find makes this issue even stranger).

How are you checking to see whether it is using the intel GPU vs the Nvidia?

Via the Nvidia activity widget, which I've never seen not show an active program correctly.

Ok well I was wondering because ingame in the advanced window it will show as using the Intel chip even though it actually isn't. It show in the activity window for me and there is also other programs you can use to actually see if your graphics card is doing work while ingame.

Anyway all I did was set eqgame.exe to run under Nvidia so I don't know what to do if that doesn't work for you.

By the way I just started playing with things and when I switched to full screen from windowed mode I started crashing when loading from character select screen.

You probably have video resolution set wrong in eqclient.ini, edit it and set them manually

Interested to see if that works.

eqclient.ini shows it at 1920x1080, which is correct. =/

I thought that was a possibility also, thanks for the suggestion.

I had this same problem loading eq on my Alienware that had a intel and nvida card.

I had to download bios that would allow me to totally disable the intel card and run on the nvida card at all times. That was the only way I could.

Check your bios and see if there is an option. This is the only way I found that I could play eq on it.
