buying a new gaming laptop soon...thoughts?

Was considering http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220695

Anybody have a better suggestion? Looking to pay around $1500

Build a desktop instead of buying a laptop.

I would agree with Serona, if you want to play games, build a desktop. But if you REALLY want a laptop, then be prepared to part with some good $. I've also seen significant user complaints about failures with 'gaming' spec'ed laptops, seems to be heat issues.

What they said. If you can avoid buying a laptop for gaming, do so. They cost too much, they will never be as powerful as a desktop, and they are unusable as a laptop as they will burn your lap off and make you sweat bullets.

So don't buy one unless you are a road warrior, and even then I'd recommend buying a micro atx sized desktop to carry around with you since that's how you'll find yourself using the laptop after a few days.

Laptop?

Asus.

Rogean 09-08-2010 09:03 AM

Hah, I said that before I even clicked the newegg link.

Win.

That said, I did have an Asus G50 or whatever model it was and if you were to go that route I'd second Rogean's recommendation. Although it could heat a room, it never gave me any trouble.

What's some good video cards these days?

Rogean 09-08-2010 09:35 AM

The only picture I have of mine, coincidentally playing EQ while at work. It runs pretty good. Asus G50VT

Was just going to say my typical response, "Gaming Laptop" = Oxymoron, but all things considering that guy has pretty nice bang for the buck!

You wont be maxing Crysis or anything, but you should get good usability for a pretty decent amount of time with that.
