Exactly what constitutes a "neck beard"?

Calling someone a "neck beard" has to be one of the top 10 all-time favorite insults in this community. As such, I'd like to understand it a bit more.

If I grow a full beard -- including the neck part -- does that count as having a neck beard?

Or is a neck beard when the beard is ONLY on the neck and nowhere else on the face?

Are there maybe some pictures or gifs available on the internet which might help illustrate the difference?

Thanks!

I too have pondered over the neckbeardium postulate. Answers please?

So when u grow a beard you're supposed to keep a line on your neck where the beard stops and the skin begins. You don't just let that shit grow completely wild without trimming, if you don't trim your beard will start to sprawl in gross swirls down your neck in unseemly ways. Neck beards are motherfuckers that sit in front of a screen for so long that they don't even bother to trim their beards to actually look like presentable facial hair, instead they look like a castaways. This can be either because they are so dedicated to gaming that they neglect shaving, or because they're so fucking autistic and antisocial they didn't even understand the concept of a trimmed beard to begin with

It's less about the actual physical neckbeard and more about the lifestyle.

But physically, it's when a fat nerd grows either a full-face or lower-face beard. The fat under their chin expands and pushes the beard out and forward, so it looks like a big walrus neck.

OK but does this still qualify?

I guess what I'm trying to determine is where is the neck beard threshold?

Not all neck beards are big guys. See Andrew Luck:

I think this falls in to the category of "If you have to ask ..."

shaving or trimming your natural beard only serves to support the corporate industrial overlords who wish to sell you razors and various creams. neckbeard is simply an awkward phase between peach fuzz'd baby and wizard.

The neck beard thing has baffled me for years.
The prominent place I see it now is on Twitch where lazy SOB's have shows where they show case the unkempt face and call it cool, or make it a focus.

I have yet to meet a single lady (LRON speak) that thought a neck beard on an alpha male was sexy or attractive that - she was not the size of my car or soon would be.
Tubbies like fur I guess.

I can tell you that people that interview with the HR where I work.... tattoos that show and neck beards result in ... hey nice to meet you, interview over. Rage all ya want.
They could give a fuck, enjoy being a starbucks barista.

I always thought of it as, do you keep your neck portion of your beard kempt or not?

I went to meet a p99er once in person (to kill them while they slept) and on the way realised I didnt shave, and that they were going to be like, 'holy shit this guy is a neck beard'

but instead we just banged in the middle of the pub after locking eyes.
