Server population trend

Has anyone else noticed that the server population seems to be dipping? Seems like a few weeks ago/last month the population was in the 800s, even hitting 900 a few times. But recently it seems to be in the low 700s, upper 600s even during peak hours.

Anyone else notice this or am I imagining things? Did some game come out recently that is sucking away some of our players?

Minecraft is to blame.

School starting

Lol totally forgot about school starting, that's probably it :p

Yah school is starting, and this is approx. time when people get a little bored of the "base" game and look forward to the expansion. When Kunark releases the population will skyrocket - I would predict almost double.

School starting/Summer ending, and burnouts.

Sky opening caused a LOT of people to return, and now that the initial glory/fascination with the zone is over... people are once again returning to other games / other things.

its because too many people are thinking outside the bun...they are all playing taco-bell quest

This.

I haven't played for a few months (2 or 3?). I'm on projectEQ right now. I basically have burned out on several games but.... it cycles and eventually I'll be back at project1999 again. It's the way it works.

For example, I tried Entropia Universe. It's a sad place. $$$$. Just like a casino. It's pathetic. The developers at MindArk don't put enough thought into the GAME. They've made a very detailed slot machine (which you research online), but have failed to capture the scope and inspiration of other role-playing worlds. They're apparently incapable of seeing beyond the $$$$$$$ (peds) and not exploiting impulsive players. I think the government (sweden?) should cap what a player can pay per month in EU, otherwise, Mindark will be vulnerable to greed (they want to grease their hands). It's like handing a child a loaded gun. It's too tempting for them. They just forget everything important and go after the $$$$. The game and the world suffer.

With Kunark and Velious coming out in the next few years, the accuracy of project1999 items/zones, the uniqueness of the classic experience, the historical value, I don't see how p1999 can go wrong. It's... immortal?

It reminds me of a few games I have that I periodically play every so often. Same thing. They age slowly because I always stop before finishing them. As long as that remains, i'll always (infrequently) return.
