Spell Skillups
Hey guys, got some questions about these spell skillups.
If I cast a higher level spell, will my skill in that spell category go up quicker? Does int/wis (respective to caster/priest) affect the rate of skillups? or is it int all the way? meaning do i need to have good wis to get skillups as a priest or does int matter? thanks! |
Higher level spell makes no difference. Not sure on Wis/int part. I also just pick the lowest mana cost type of spell with no/low cooldown and spam it.

Thanks thulak, seems like this ogre shaman has mental problems cus he skills up SO SLOW.. I have low wis tho cus im built for resists :/ so it still could be wis/int at this point that is a factor, no idea!
Daldaen get in mah thread and halp me out! ;) |
Int/Wis is indeed the stat governing skill-up rate for spell-casting skills.
Except for channeling, which is governed by Dexterity. This is where the misconception that Dexterity improves the chance of channeling success stems from. |
awesome thanks..
this ogre is stupid as a rock and not very wise.. very painful to skillup. |
You made and Ogre shaman to replace your Barb shaman? Daaaamn. What's the name? I will track you down...and photograph you...

Casters skillup Magic schools on INT Offensive abilities skillup on DEX Defensive abilities skillup on AGI Tradeskills only use a skill check on a failed combine. WIS/INT depending on which is higher. I think Smithing can use Strength and Fletching/Poison Making can use DEX if it's higher than your WIS/INT. Thulack is also correct. Low mana cost, low level, fast recast spells are the best to skillup off. General play on this server will usually get your main schools up but there are times when you will have some lag behind. Wizards often will have bad alteration when they get ports at 20 since gate/fade are the only spells they get on alteration until then. On my Necromancer who I charm soloed up, his Conjuration was terrible because I wasn't using those DoTs or pets until I sat and disease clouded my pet for hours. |
