How does that address any of the the problems discussed in this thread? What benefit does that have for anyone? Do you really want hundreds of new threads every day spamming the forums and pushing WTB/WTS posts off the first page much faster? Do you really want to send PMs to dozens of people when you are looking to buy an item because there are dozens of orphaned threads for every item and no real way for buyers to tell if an item is sold or not (at least not without even more spam on the forums)?

If you are against people editing their posts can you be a little more constructive and explain why? What benefit not being able to edit posts will have in your eyes?

I see you've only posted in the EC forums 3 times, the last time was a year ago... if it doesn't affect you in any way and you don't care why even post? Trolling to troll on the Tech Discussion forums?

Are you ok dude? Was just making a suggestion. Good luck with your crusade!

Just noticed this change.

It would be very handy to be able to edit posts in Guild forums to reflect changes in contact details, recruitment requirements etc which are usually contained in the first post in each guild recruitment thread. Currently most of our detail is out-of-date and needs to be changed.

Is this something being re-considered? .. If not, is there a way to get individual access to edit these posts?

Thanks

G

Yep, it's already started.

Is there a way to look up all GM, Guide, Forum Moderator usernames? I'd like to foward them all the PMs I get like this.

If you do this, you are going to have a bad time.

Way to not answer any of the very reasonable questions I posed to you and fail at basic human communication. Thanks for the suggestion, you certainly saved the day.. No one would have thought of that on their own. ;)

Forwarding PMs sounds like pretty serious business!

I think some of the hotter heads should remember three key points:
  1. this is Rogean's house, we're just guests: if eliminating edit functionality saves any staff member even five minutes of effort then Rogean has every right to do so
  2. this thread is on page 6 in the technical forum: clearly this issue matters to the community, and no one (staff or otherwise) can miss that
  3. Rogean isn't some random jerk: he's the guy who built multiple servers, organized a gang of staff and developers, and invested a significant amount of his own time and money just so that thousands of people he's never met could play a 15+ year old game

So appreciate what you have with #1, realize that staff are aware because #2, and trust that they will do the right thing because of point #3 ... even if the right thing turns out to be leaving edit disabled.

I agree 100%, and immensely appreciate what Rogean and the staff here do and provide to the community free of charge.

With that said I jokingly made a comment making light of someone making weakly veiled threats that I felt were a bit of an over reaction to a comment that was obviously made in good humor and to make a point... and that could just as easily been chuckled at and ignored.

You had the most recent post on the topic, so you were easiest to quote; didn't mean to imply that you were a hothead :)
