A question about a fresh server?
 

I read somewhere that you guys were going to open a new server once the velious thing happened. I was not able to join P1999 when this originally started, so I didn't hop in, because it's later, and everything's already been done with people just waiting for Vel now.

Will there be a brand new server anytime soon, or at all? I play several different games with a cross-guild, about 34 of us altogether who are interested in this.

I would very much appreciate an answer in any way/shape/form. Thank you for reading.

There is nothing whatsoever stopping you from having fun on the current server. Nothing ... unless you just can't stand the idea of other players being higher level and/or richer than you (in which case you should just give up on MMOGs, because there will always be players with more xp/loot than you, even when the server is only a day old)

Yes but not soon. If the staff doesn't change their mind (which is possible; they did it on the teams server) then a "recycle" server will start once Velious and all post-Velious patches are complete. Based on the dev team's past speed, that will be (at least) two years from now.

So don't wait, just start having fun on Blue (or Red, if that's your thing) now!

New server wont be for years.

Nilbog stated during the Velious release announcement that they planned to do new "recycling" servers once Velious had been active for a period of time.

The exact time that will pass before they start these recycling servers is pure speculation unless I missed another announcement. It could be several months, it could be years.

From what I gathered during the Velious stream, this recycling server will start fresh, follow a much reduced (more accurate) expansion release schedule, and then eventually merge back into the main Blue server. Once this occurs, the cycle would start again, and another fresh recycle server would start.

So not exactly a new permanent server, and no exact date when this might occur.

There are tons of lowbies/newbies in most zones thanks to Daybreak giving us the official seal of approval, so now's a great time to get started. The servers very top heavy, so you guys might have a hard time once you get to raiding levels.. but in the meantime that means tons of cheap mid/high level gear.

While things are at double XP (very rarely happens) expect craziness, though.

There could be 4 blue servers, and each and every one of them would still have a higher population than Red.

Kill? Almost certainly not.

Dramatically reduce the population at all hours? Almost certainly so.

The server would be perfectly healthy with half the concurrent users daily, and the population is growing in anticipation for Velious, and will likely be much much higher once Velious releases.

A new server would have no real raid scene for weeks or months, and even when it became a thing we're talking base vanilla bosses for a long time.

So, yes, there probably be another server experiment someday. I would guess probably around 2017 at earliest, and that's if the p99 team gets feisty.

play it as is. it's a fun game. this server is as close as a sandbox as possible. there is no race. things move very slow here, and imo, that is a huge plus.

A historical timeline of this server should really be taken with a grain of salt. A lot of people love to throw around completely arbitrary numbers as to when a new server may start. The fact is, until they give us an official announcement, it's pure speculation.

What has been stated recently, is that Nilbog intends to run recycling servers sometime after Velious has been established.
