Wow - it's been quite some time since I've played EQ (About 2002ish if I remember correctly) I found out recently about Project99 and wanted to give it a shot! I used to play several different toons back in my hayday, but pre-Luclin I always liked a Druid/Ranger. So I'm back! Are Greater Faydark and the Commonlands still prime hunting spots?

Yes! Commons on Blue, Gfay on Red.
