three Bard issues that need fixing

1. The casting bar is still disappearing. I have hotkeys that say /stopsong /cast X and it happens most often when I'm using these hotkeys, that the song begins, casting bar disappears, but if I wait long enough the song still casts. I'm actually so used to it that I'm just ignoring it and letting the spells cast the normal way, but sometimes it's confusing if I get an actual fizzle and confuse it for a disappearing casting bar.

2. Charm's mana cost "check" isn't functioning properly. This seems like an easy fix. If you try charming a mob with the level 39 charm, you'll lose 20 mana, which is fine. What isn't fine is that if you try to use charm at 59 mana or lower, it says "insufficient mana ..." because the cost used to be 60. It's small but it did cause real problems for me yesterday at seafuries.

3. Charming a mob when you have another mob charmed causes a weird "mez" effect on the mob you cast it on. Seriously, it's really weird.

Thanks!

This is something that was happening way the back in the winter/spring.
It was eventually fixed after somebody posted a bard how to video, prominently showing the use of this bug as part of his charm kiting instructions.

After I pointed out a few times that this was exploiting a glitch the video was removed and the bug was fixed. Wonder how long this has been back?

Alright, another issue. Sometimes when charm wears off, it.. doesn't. Ever. You lose control of your pet but it continues attacking the mob it was attacking. This very rarely happens, but it's happened twice to me while fighting seafuries, and the worst thing about it is once the mob dies I don't get its loot. I'm not sure what the mobs con in these cases so I'd have to check that too. But I imagine being able to charm a mob forever is a problem, even if it's difficult to replicate.

This has happened to me once or twice but I just recast charm and that does the trick.

I'm not certain but it might be something left over from the faction war bug that used to always occur in the Planes.

My theory:

Your charmed pet is fighting toe to toe with a non-charmed mob.
Charm breaks (while non-charmed mob is mid-swing).
Immediately after charm breaks the non-charmed mob lands it's last hit.
So what should have been the end of agro between the 2 mobs is renewed because your ex-pet just got smacked upside the head by another mob for (in his eyes) no reason. :p
This might be what's creating a conflict between the 2 mobs that should otherwise be buddies.

That's the best I can come up with.

The reason why I believe this is what's happening is because when I use a charmed pet I am also agro kiting my target by using snare and 3 dots.

In other words the non-charmed mob is never attacking my pet but rather it is always chasing after me. When I solo in this way the bug you mentioned never happens. The bug only ever seems to happen if the pet and the mob are actively hitting each other before the charm, breaks.

I'm pretty sure Chicanery's theory is what is happening.

On a tangent I still think mez-push should be a higher priority than all of those, esp. with kunark approaching!

cheers!

1. I need to know exactly how to make this happen, and be able to reproduce it, to fix it.

2. This is tied to your spells file on the client. Maybe the latest one didn't get pushed out to the users. Can check into this. Or you could just edit your own version and change it from 60 to 20, for that spell if you dont want to wait.

3. Fixed pending patch. This helped me track down some other bugs with charm. So hopefully all faction wars related to charm will stop too.

Doesn't really effect me directly but sweetness none the less! ;)

That's the tricky thing - it doesn't seem to be caused by anything obvious. I thought it was tied to the use of /stopsong in hotkeys, but twice now I've seen the disappearing casting bar happen when I've just clicked on my spell gems the normal way. I'm going to try a few more things but I doubt I'll isolate what's causing it. oh well.

Thanks, this is great.

Seconded, happens randomly. I don't use macros to bard, just 6/7/8/9 hotkeys and sometimes clicking. Occasionally a song will randomly either not show its cast bar at all or it will disappear shortly into the song.

I know this is from a while ago, but since it's still not fixed, how do I fix this just for myself? What line of what file do I have to edit? Thanks.
