While waiting for Velious ~ two games have potential: Albion Online and Skyforge

Albion Online: https://albiononline.com/en/
Ultima Online-inspired, player-housing, brutal pvp, what you wear is what 'class' you are, crafting, one giant server (across Linux/Mac/PC) etc

Skyforge: http://sf.my.com/us
Open beta starts July 16th

Both playable if you pay for a Founder tier.

The concept of Skyforge is enticing. I've always wanted a solid scifi-meets-fantasy MMO to play. But it's apparently free to play and the combat seems a little watered-down from the gameplay video I watched.

I wish someone would develop a sci-fi horror genre based MMO. :(

Early access founders pack gives you 2 extra classes for Skyforge? No sir I don't like it. Makes everyone else feel bad that they're not getting the full product.

Anyone remember Mortal Kombat 10 with their "preorder or you don't get Goro"?

You are going to have to get out of the stone age and learn that almost all(notice i said almost) online games have some kind of cash shop and give people things for preordering and such. Its just the way it is. If you dont like this though i'm sure you are happy with your 15 year old games or the 2 dollar indie games on Steam that dont require extra money for any extras so you dont feel bad about not having everything(personal problem).

Yes, but most of the time the cash shop is for aesthetic things, or maybe xp boosts or stat buffs. There are plenty of games that do it this way that aren't indie or old. Locking out entire classes is going too far imo.

Yep.

Throwing your hands up in the air as you get your wallet out because "lol, 2015" is the real caveman thing to do.

Would rather buy some LoL skins or something. At least that's just aesthetic.

The classes are available to everyone through the normal system, you just get access at launch (without "leveling" to them) if you buy the top-tier founders pack. I've been enjoying the game (Skyforge) quite a lot so far. The pay-to-win elements are unfortunate, but all the ones I've seen so far have just been some form of speed boost, nothing that provides a unique advantage.

I've stopped pre-ordering because I am not going to PAY YOU to test your game. That is why you pay game testers.

Fun as shit. 25 hours on it since it came out. Mind you 3 of those are from my son over the weekend. You wouldnt think driving around a field smacking a huge ball around would be fun but it is. Especially hearing the raging on the other side after goals lol.
