Anybody else never make it high lvl/endgame content on Live?

When I played live, I was a teenager sharing a computer with my parents and two brothers, so I got limited play time. I played for a little over year, but never go to any high-level stuff. I leveled a Warrior until about 25, then started a Druid, leveled him to 30-ish, then rolled a Cleric, again to around 30, then stopped playing.

Now, I am an adult, have my own computer, and lots of free time. Looking forward to getting up there in the ranks with my Cleric and getting all the badass spells!

Question: How awesome is endgame content really? So far all I know is leveling, so I'm curious to know how the dynamic and funtime changes at higher levels. Or should I just play it out and find out myself?

I didn't get to see the luclin high end till after PoP came out ( took long break ) .. but I was current with high end PoP content and quit right after that and never looked back .. EQ2 ftw

slightly odd question as high end content changed ~every 6 months/

We used to do raids 3 or 4 yrs behind the current content.

raiding is overrated, but worth doin once at least...just to make you glad that you have a life outside of eq!

I played from phase 3 beta through Kunark and I never made it to max level. I played every class into the 20s and I rolled a couple classes twice when the racial PvP server first came up. I quit before Velious because I didn't like the idea of buying two expansions in one year and didn't touch EverQuest again until I discovered P99 earlier this year.

Imo, end game is great right now. Anyone who makes statements about how raid mobs die instantly has no idea what they're talking about. Some are tracked and killed, sure, but many stay up for hours. Check out this wiki page:

Look at the thurgadin, Kael, and skyshrine armor sets. Most guilds are focusing on those right now I think. All very good armor, and all are available without needing to sock a boss.

Get to raiding level (55-60), find a guild working on the faction you want, and start attending raids. You may not get geared out right away, but the drops are pretty common.

Plus, raid bosses aren't nearly as faceroll-y as they used to be. Lots of stuff takes practice, resists, aggro management, attempts, etc. Honestly, end game is what you make it. Do you want to be on call 24/7 but have a chance to kill some of the hardest stuff? Or would you rather play more casually, get Kael/ SS/ Thurg armor and a few bosses? Think about that and join a guild that will reflect your goals.

I don't remember doing KC or Seb during Kunark, or downing any of those dragons... far too casual, was busy making alts and doing my scaled mystic armor pieces.

Nothing like VP or Vex Thal, or anything like that. Never wanted to either.

I hate raiding. Its for nerds. So, never made end game in EQ. Play here a few hours a week to take my mind away.
