Easy RMT Fix for Red (To GMs)
 

Add classic Rallos Zek ruleset to Red server.
(Kill someone, loot an item and all coin. Items ineligible for pvp loot on RZ classic were no drop, hand held*, or in a bag.
* unless disarmed in pvp and droppable then it was fair game - Melees and Hybrids rejoice.)

The Problem
No Risk vs Reward. Red is currently a magnet for Blue PvE guild pixel Poopsockers. Why? They can get top bluebie spot and keep it as they outgear and can cockblock other guilds in zone. Even better? Little competition with other Blue guilds.
It's a PvP server so Bluebies get and keep 'teh power up' uncontested. All the extra gear is given to their lvl 16 twinks skewing prices.


How would an RZ ruleset change affect Red server?

No more RMT of items:
That dummy who paid $100 cash for a Fungi? Now if it can be sold it can be ganked.
I'll be wearing it within a day. Thanks for buying me a Fungi, dummy.

Bluebie Twink PKs:
Those delevelled, all gear, no skill bluebie alt SKs in Crushbone & Mistmoore wearing an FBSS and wielding a Wurmslayer?
He sees his name in yellow for killing cloth and rusty wielding toons. Nothing to write home to mom about.

You are now the hunted. I can tell you how many minutes that twink will keep that FBSS. Two. Group /rolls for it.

Fresh Blood:
I personally know 4-5 PvP guilds that would flood the server, and haven't due to aforementioned lack of Risk vs Reward.

But...but...Red has coin loot!!
No. No it doesn't. The currency being used on 1999 Red has changed to Gems due to merchant buyback prices and safety.
You pay for ports or a rez with peridots. The Risk vs Reward is a sad joke which gets exploited.

Rogean: Here's my challenge: Change Red to RZ ruleset for a month. I bet my account within two weeks most of your troubles including RMT go away.
A flood of PvPers will come to server, economy back to normal due to items changing hands much more, PvPers policing the PvErs. Wifey kick your butt for spending $50 dollars and nothing to show for it ?

Half of your headaches gone. Sorry - Can't help with account sales but GMs have figured out how to lock that one down,.

Try it for a month and see.
If i'm wrong delevel all my chars to 1 or delete them outright.

Sounds great except the twinks like Exed literally don't die, they'll plug first. Only thing that will change is new players to server will now be getting items snatched by him rather than just a trivial amount of coin.

im so red and i never had the balls to play eq with item loot tho, risk vs reward here is being able or not being able to take a camp or stay in a place. eq is way too hardcore to be able loot peeps items imo. not sure how it worked back on live tho

Would be great if you could loot someone's epic, even if you can't use it.

I thought they already decided on a way to fix this, so the server wipe scheduled for 9/11/15 has been cancelled?

sorry to poke holes in your plan but if you make everything lootable you'll end up with groups of wizards just running around looting people's shit and rmting it for cheaper than before. find the guys that they sold to and rinse repeat.

Easiest fix is just to wipe it clean. Can't RMT if everyone has nothing.

Groups of wizzies are okay. They take over 5 minutes to get mana back and even a group of nakeds can take them out. If they are well geared and resist snare and root they are now at risk for loot.

Item loot is great. Disarmed weapons go to inventory if there is room or a bag if there is no open inventory slot, so they become safe in that case.

This is a tough time for item loot because in velious now there is only one big guild and with this era you can be fully no drop and be rock solid stat wise. This was not the case in kunark. It would make it basically impossible to contest empire.

It makes the low level game so much better that it is worth doing anyways, but its a tough time, no doubt.
