If your computer gives you a laptop and you quit the next day you can probably get away with keeping the laptop.. but the right and lawfull thing to do would be to give it back.
It shows the character of someone to not just give back a 20k item or whatever it is to the guild that got you it if you truly planned on quitting.
There no excuse or worldy quote that can absolve someone of being just straight up greedy.

I never said anything can absolve someone of being greedy. I clearly said that my point did not justify greedy behavior.
Let me rephrase it to make things clearer, using your example. If your work *gives* you a laptop, without any sort of contract (as they would irl) and you leave the company without returning it...it is just as much the company's fault as it is yours for being greedy.
In eq, we don't use contracts for guilds....it's a damn video game. So, I simply submit the statement that if a guild is not prepared for the recipient of any item to walk at any time for any reason (as is the individual liberty in eq) they shouldn't be awarding the item in the first place. |
