Question: Casinos
 

Hey folks. I have a question.

This comes from my own personal viewpoint that is simply reactionary in nature. I have no real logic for the feeling but...

I've always hated EQ casinos. I always felt it was somehow cheap.

Am I a nut (for this reason, not another)?

I never seem to harbor ill will for the player running a casino... but the game rubs me the wrong way.

Anyone else? Or not?

If people want to give away their money then so be it. They are given the odds up front. I just dislike all the spam. The casinos need to move away from everyone out of courtesy, but few actually do

I never made any money by giving away plat, so it only ever takes one line advertising a casino to hit my ignore list.

EQ is a sandbox. If running a casino is your thing then more power to you. If dry humping centaurs in the Karanas is what does it for ya then go for it.

Theres a post in the RnF about this now, of course its meaningless in RnF.

I always liked the idea, but the odds of the games are a little to skewed imo, anything over 800 wins your money back over 900 is double...for real?

But the execution of these casino's is just a headache,they set up in the middle of the biggest group of people they can find and just start spamming, then get all pissy when you ask them to move and they expect to you to move out of range.

I just throw all these people on ignore, I believe they should move to the empty buildings in the middle of the ec zone. You would actually have a building to base your operation in, but they seem to think they would lose more gamblers by moving as opposed to instantly being put on 10 peoples ignore list.

Well, they were banned on live at some point...

Really? I never heard that...what was the reasoning? as annoying as it is I can't believe sony would ban it for rand spam

Sony implemented their own casino's sometime after Luclin to reduce platinum circulating on the servers...did they ban player casino's to make room for their own? =p

No since I ran the most successful one on live, including several events that GM's supported and attended.

If you don't like it, don't participate. It is a casino and casinos make money (in RL and here) for the owner. You could walk away with the jackpot, but more than likely you will lose your money. But it is not the casino's problem if people want to throw their money away. As for spam, there is an ignore function and if you are getting annoyed with the /roll spam, make a separate window and throw the spam there.

I fail to see how this is even a minor problem.
