When was taunt changed?
I hate to ask this question, as I'm sure it's been covered before, but when was taunt changed so that it affected red-con mobs? I was unable to find the answer online.

It changed when Kunark came out. It should be fixed when this expansion goes live, correct GM's?
|
You should be able to with kunark, but it's not going to fix all aggro woes.
There was a long standing legacy issue on live until ~June 2006 that capped warrior taunts at the same level as hybrids (the skill caps increased, but there was an effectiveness hardcap in place, making the skill differences moot). The change brought a high red con to ~20% chance, and a high blue to ~60%. What this means for p99 is that if this is in place, skill caps won't matter for taunt past the hybrids caps post 50. Warrior taunt was notoriously unreliable. |
Maybe the GM's will fix taunt once Kunark is out! That would rock if they are able to!

Nov 15, 2000 - (7 months after Kunark release)
Taunt: Increased effectiveness above level 50. Previously, creatures above level 50 could not be taunted by means of the taunt skill. Now, most creatures below the character's level can now be successfully taunted. As a note, the chance to taunt a creature above 50th level is smaller than that of a creature below 50th. March 6, 2001 - (11 months after Kunark release) Level 60 players with the taunt skill will now have a chance to taunt creatures that are level 60 to 65. Previously, players could only taunt creatures below their level. These are the references I could find in old patch notes. |
So 7 months before I can taunt anything 50-60 and 11 months before I can taunt anything 60-65?
I usually don't say it but... QQ |

That being said, it will be nice for all the tanks out there when the fix does finally get patched in... roughly around the same time as epic quests. |
Kunark will also bring in several new aggro management tools for classes with issues, like concussion and jolt, and a functioning memory blur mechanic. Threat from spells has been one of the projects I've wanted to work on for a while, once Kunark is all set, there will be more time for it.

May be a lesser known fact, but if a mob is blinded (Flash of Light level 1 cleric/shaman spell, also paladin) it will only attack those in direct proximity of it (if no one is in range it will run in random directions).
The spell costs 12 mana or so and is a great way to ensure the tank never loses agro (assuming you have an all ranged dps group) and you don't let the flash wear off. |
