Camp stealing
So tonight I was camping 6 guards in Oggok and another player, Kamilaa, decided to come into the zone and steal half of my camp. I was killing the 3 on ground level near the zone entrance and the 3 at the cave heading towards the bank. 6 mobs on a 20 minute timer so I had no problem holding them down as a 44 chanter. I wasn't killing anything upstairs and told him he could have all of those mobs. But every time I came back to that half of my camp he was downstairs killing the mobs I just told him I had been camping for hours. I had the mobs set up on a timer and he messed it all up so I didn't have 2 to charm against each other anymore and needed to reset the spawns to effectively kill them again. He kept pulling them and messing up the timers so I had no idea what I could charm against each other any more. I ended up just leaving the zone because I was so frustrated that my xp had slowed to a halt because of this loser. What kind of response should I expect for behavior like this?

What kind of response from whom?
The boards will be a 50/50 split on calling you names and agreeing he's a horrible person. The staff won't do anything. His guild, if he had one, I doubt will care but depends on the guild. Personally I'll keep my eyes open for him. He sounds like a douchebag. |
you cannot camp 2 different spots at the same time even if your capable of killing both.

Can this be moved to the appropriate subforum? It's ruining my immersion.

Good luck OP. Load a fast DD and get the first hit on the spawn or stand on top of the spawn point. You have a better argument if they tag it when your hitting it rather then them tagging it before you do. |

In issues of disruptions or interference such as a camp dispute, players are required to work together to reach a compromise. If this cannot be accomplished prior to the involvement of a Project 1999 CSR Staff Member, the CSR will mandate a solution. A CSR Solution is final and not open to debate. Refusal to abide by the direction of a CSR will result in account disciplinary for disruptive behavior. Due to the busy nature of the CSR and possible lack of factual information, the solution reached may not be to the best interest of both parties (a "lose-lose" situation). It is for this reason that players are highly suggested to reach a compromise on their own. The Project 1999 Staff does not define what constitutes a camp, and disputes are arbitrated on a case by case basis. A CSR's ruling may be different than previous rulings based on any number of circumstances, including (but not limited to) players involved and their history, behavior / attitude of the players, and facts gathered by the CSR. In general, a player should maintain a presence at or very near the spawn of the camp they are intending to hold, while keeping the placeholders of any relevant spawns dead. It is allowed to 'camp' multiple areas if there are no other players interested in doing so, however if another party is interested in moving into one of your camps, you must chose which one to keep and maintain your presence there. source: http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2651 |
OP you made the mistake of not having your P99 lawyer on retainer to handle this dispute.
But in all seriousness, this is standard operating procedure on p99. People don't give a shit about each other. Great community! |
Players generally don't recognize camps outside of popular adventuring zones and even then, only the room or immediate space surrounding you. Laying claim to a particular area of the game because you live in a different time zone or have more free time is as selfish as contesting that claim ^^
When you decline to contest another's camp, it is not an act of benevolence due to your upstanding nature. You do so in self interest, the implicit agreement that by not invading others camps, they will not invade yours. If someone else has more time or beats you to something then you will starve. The other player is operating under a different agreement: to the victor goes the spoils. He will attempt to take your resources and expects you to attempt to take his, so he will defend them. That is why he messed up the spawn cycle. He knew it would place you (his competition) at a disadvantage. Both approaches are self serving, the former favoring birthright and the latter favoring talent. Your options are to either devise a better strategy to deny him mobs, or go elsewhere ^^ As a chanter, there are undoubtedly a few things you could do to throw a wrench in his assault ^^ |
