Wow, thanks for posting this - definitely brings back memories. This intro just added to the awe of a 3d MMO at my fingertips back in the day.

Were those character models originally what they wanted them to be, but when the reality of Voodoo2 powered computers set in they changed them to what they are now?

No. Verant had someone else do the movie. I forget, who, though. The graphics that you see in the game now have been around for a long time.
