New To Server - Forgot How Punishing This Was
 

So, I played live EQ for 10 years starting in 1999 on prexus as an enchanter and the memories are very fond. Since then I've tried every other MMO and played some for a year or two (WoW, Aion, WAR). I just wanted to say that wow I totally forgot how punishing the early game of EQ was in reality, the memories are nothing compared to what it really is haha. I don't think I've died so much ever (since 1999) in the start of any game, I really hate skeletons and damn bears!

Yeah, but the one thing about EQ is that every time something good happens (you levels, get new spells, buy/loot a kick ass item), it's incredibly more rewarding than any accomplishment in WoW, WAR, etc.

It's true that this game does not forgive bad decisions, but it also makes you a better player by learning from your mistakes.

That's part of the reason we all came back to it!

New MMOs by comparison feel more like they were designed by Fisher Price, at least that's the comparison I like to make.

At least fisherprice game normaly have an "age" target. Like this game is designed to be played by a 3 year old :p

New mmo's are for everyone and they all think your 3 year old :p

Yes, the difficulty and patience make this game better than others.

I remember back in 1999 I started off as a human enchanter and died over 100x at night because I couldn't see. I gotta say, being a DE and able to see things really doesn't help all that much, can't believe all the death and carnage I've had already. Here's to dinging 4 tonight =P and yes it does feel good!

Soeb and Leuws, same two I have here now. I think I'll be re-activating Leuws just to raid. Soeb is my 99 toon though, it was awesome being an enchanter pre-kunark (at least a good one =P)
