Monk DPS

Ok, so now that I finally finished my epic (yay) I was wondering what my best DPS setup is? I have a Tstaff so I assume once the triple attack patch happens that will be my best DPS option. I'm unclear if in the meantime it's better to go Tstaff or epic fist/SoS?

I have been sort of loosely going by this monk DPS chart that someone made but it's a couple years old so not sure how accurate it is (I assume it still is).

Based on that chart it looks like epic/SoS just barely edges out Tstaff when you include procs but it's so close it seems like it might be a wash depending on your proc rate and maybe other factors like buffs or mob level/AC etc..

I'm thinking if it's super close the Tstaff is probably the better all around choice just to better deal with damage shields and such? Or maybe some have other ideas on it?

Epic/SoS is the most even dps. T staff puts out some big numbers but it can be very streaky with the misses.

Epic + SoS starts to become better dps around lvl 56ish as it scales better with the bonus dmg from your main hand and caps out at around 3-7% better dps at lvl 60. Maybe more maybe less, depending on the mob level/type.

Rough estimates.

At 60...

After the triple attack / damage bonus patch, the TStaff will be the best "easily" attainable weapon for monks.

Epic/SoS is better DPS now

Epic/SoS or Epic/Epic is better push (useful when fighting casters), which means even after the patch, you'll still probably put away the TStaff every once in a while

Epic/SoS is less aggro than TStaff because of the TStaff proc (good in some situations and bad in others), which means even after the patch, you might still end up putting away the TStaff on raids or when someone else is tanking.

TStaff is better against damage shields

The stun on the TStaff is useful in a lot of situations

The PDF you link should still be accurate

I'm curious if the 38/40 IFS will also edge out over Epic/SOS after the triple attack patch.

If you're lazy : epic/SoS or epic/adam club

If you click your tstaff every attack round to get an offhand punch, you will get a better dps than the lazy option. The triple attack patch will be the cherry on the cake.

The utility of tstaffs insane stun proc is probably worth losing a bit of dps in many situations. Something to consider.

Everyone is talking about triple attack, but the changes are really threefold:

1. Triple attack, presumably accounts for an overall DPS increase of 2-4%
2. Increase in 2h bonus dmg
3. Monks move to a new separate and superior dmg calculation table from lvl 55+

It's this last change that supposedly accounts for the bulk of the DPS increase. It is unknown what this does for the 1h calculation vs the 2h calculation, one can only guess, and remember back to live where any combination of Gharns, Fist of Nature and Fist of Lightning was better than any 2hander.

It's also worth mentioning you get significantly less riposte damage with a two hander. Which can make a difference over time if soloing. And you'd be silly to leave your epic/SoS equipped when attacking a mage or druid mob when you have a Tstaff in your bags. The damage shield from those 2 classes will eat you alive. Fortunately most mobs that have damage shields are just wizards, and wizard damage shield is only 2 or 3 damage per swing.
