New Raid target spawn Scenario
This is how it will play out:
-Change goes into effect on (whatever day it's decided...)and everything spawns at once, much like the server going down and re-spawning everything. -Blah blah blah, we all race for mobs, it's fun and exciting. We have to prioritize, we have to pick a target, kill it, and move on to another one that's up, etc etc. You win some, you lose some. -All the mobs have been killed, most likely within ~4 hours because CT takes a while and is typically saved for last. Here comes the fun part, how variance can still play a part: -Beginning either 5 or 6 days after ALL RAID TARGETS were killed, a window of +/- 48 hours (like we have) or +/- 24 hours (like it used to be) occurs. -During this window, everything is obviously being tracked to find out which boss will spawn first. Several trackers from several guilds post up pretty much everywhere, as is the norm a week or so after a server crash like we've seen. -HOWEVER, i'm tossing about the idea that it's not one boss who has been on variance, but all of them. --Basically, let's say the first boss to spawn is Naggy. Competition flares and the race for Naggy commences. However, a specific amount of time later another boss spawns (lets say 15 minutes) regardless as to whether or not Naggy died. And then another 15 minutes passes and a third boss spawns. This is consecutively, and randomly, occurring until all major raid targets have spawned (phinny doesnt count, whatever. Keep him on 12 hours.) -After, and ONLY AFTER, all major raid targets have been killed that have just spawned back to back to back, will the timer start for the window to open 5 (or 6) days later, repeating this process. -So, essentially, Anywhere from 5-9 days you get bombarded with all raid targets, spawning one after another, in a random order each week, making these targets more exciting to race for. You keep competition alive You keep variance You eliminate poopsocking, but retain overnight tracking You allow for more time in PoSky You allow for more time to enjoy everything else about EQ besides simply sitting and waiting for a mob to spawn You stay sane Just an idea i've been boiling over. Could be 15 minutes between mobs, could be 30. Doesn't matter. The principle is there. /discuss |
I would like to read a lot of opinion for or against this, hopefully after I wake up or tomorrow night after work. I think it can really make the server a little bit more interesting.
Comments, Criticism, Trolls, Improvements? Let's hear it. Heading to bed, holy fuck its late/early. Peace |
I feel this is an appropriate reference:

Uthgaard i have no idea what you're implying with your post. No offense.

The truth is,
No matter what the Gm's and Dev's decide to do. It will always suck. Until you all can see the truth in your childish ways you will forever be held to them. |

This will be MUCH less of a problem when Kunark comes out I think?
Raid targets will be a lot more plentiful. |
First, I agree with the idea of your post. Server wide repops allow more people in on the action, as guilds have to prioritize their targets. There is one problem, however.
All of these mobs will spawn and be taken out in a matter of a few hours. What will people do for the next 5 days? I don't think this problem overshadows your idea, and it might even be an advantage for IB/DA to see their families for a few days a week. But it is something to consider. |

You are wrong. Then again it really depends on what your considering raid targets. There are mobs that would be considered Raid targets for guilds that suck bad..... The Truth can hurt , but it will forever set you free my loves. |
