Why the population explosion?
 

I played about six years ago. Logged in for a little last night...1300 players on? IIRC correctly back then we were around 900. What little piece of history did I miss?

Velious, planar revamps, pseudo-endorsement/pass from Daybreak Games, Sleeper killed, impending Chardok 2.0, triple attack and 2-hander update, monk tears... lots of stuff.

Ogres.

It was a bit higher during early Velious but is still a healthy population.

I think we probably picked up a lot of players from live disenchanted with the watered down version of EQ they've been getting and want the real deal hardcore/as it should be/as it was intended to be experience too.

I'd rephrase that the other way around. You left something as awesome as Project 1999 for six years: even without any special 'history' how could you not expect hundreds of people to discover and love it in that time?

18th Anniversary probably caused a bump of nostalgic players as well. What's what brought me back here again for the first time in several years.

Well this server is better than live eq and eq2. Surprised there's not more people on p99.
