What's a camp?

Hey all,

Just wondering what counts as a camp and what constitutes holding a camp?

Let's say you claim all the spires in S. karana but you can't kill some of the higher level gnolls. And you have to keep zoning, is it considered acceptable for someone to go around to all the spires and just kill the blue ones that pop, claiming to hold the whole spires as a camp?

You can only camp a single spawn point, and you lose your "camp" the moment you die or zone. (Well, technically you can camp as many mobs as you want, but as soon as someone else wants some you both essentially have to pick one each to camp).

However, just as you can only camp one spawn point, the same applies to anyone else. Every mob beyond the one you camp is "FTE" (First to Engage), which means whoever agroes it first gets it.

So, to address your specific situation, both of you are in the wrong. You weren't really camping anything, because you zoned, and the other person can only camp a single gnoll (and then they have to make sure to engage it soon after it spawns every time, or else they aren't really camping it). Beyond that whoever agroes any given gnoll first gets it.

Not sure zoning matters. I've understood the rules to be if you are there before the respawn and you kill it, it is your camp. If you have more then 4 mobs at once they can take one.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but that's inconsistent with what GMs/guides (I forget which) have been saying in threads like these for the past month or so. The zoning part I'm less certain of, but the only being able to camp one mob (when there's competition, in an outdoor/FTE zone) has been pretty clear.

Interesting, thanks for posting that supermonk! The whole question of "what happens when you each have one mob camped and you start FTEing the rest" has been a bit fuzzy in the threads I've seen, so I like the clarity of "you either get a single camp and no FTE or you can FTE but get no camp at all" (which is what I took from that screenshot).

About two years ago while trying to camp the dhampyre in MM I found an empty camp. 10 min later a guy gates in and claims it is his. I petitioned and the GM told me the rules I described above.

Most folks seem OK with sitting near a spawn point around the spires, killing "their" gnoll and FTE on the others not occupied by someone else. I've seen all spawns locked by individuals, but it seems 2-3 folks around is more often the case. I've yet to see a dispute there, but I suppose it happens from time to time if folks get all Lawyerquesty.

A camp is one spawn. As long as you're there to kill it before it responds you can hold it. Don't let ppl bully you into believing they can claim Proximity spawns because "that's how it always is"

You take that spawn baby girl and you camp it hard.

Sounds like OP is describing someone else, so my advice is just go inside, invis to bedroom, kill low level roamer, then kill the gnolls before double doors. Same gnolls, better xp
