So after 17 years of EQ we just realized this in HHK.

Every guard is named after a composer, composing term, instrument or musician

Guard bach - johann sebastian bach
Guard chopin - frederic chopin
isabella cellus - cellist
Guard kovan - kovan (folk singer and activist)
Guard Queztin - West side story
Guard Diff - diff is a composer term
Guard Yeltin - Boris Yeltsin
Captain Bosec - Bhaag D.K. Bose

there are MANY more, and this is only at first glance from google

this would also explain why there are so many bards in the zone and music rooms everywhere

There's so many crazy hidden meanings behind stuff in EQ1. I always wondered who thought of all this stuff, or if it was mostly one mind/one dev? A lot of it is so obscure and hidden it goes totally unnoticed. Which shows a real clever mind behind it all, also a mind that didn't care if people figured it out or not. Modestly done imo.

Wow, I'm surprised I never noticed this, especially with things as obvious as Chopin and Bach. I hope there's a Vivaldi lurking around somewhere in the Keep.

Yeltsin was a renowned composer in a past life.

Kovan is probably coincidental - he's only been known publicly since 2015 for being incarcerated after a politically-charged song of his went viral on some Indian file sharing site.

My favorite is Laken Boorheez in North Freeport.

Hah never noticed that. Good catch.

Was this kind of stuff Brad's doing, or was it the underlings that developed EQ1? It sure would be neat to talk to whoever did this stuff.

I bet Kraddok could get an interview with them if they seen his videos on EQ mysteries. His golden voice alone would render them unable to say no if he asked them for an interview! Imagine all the EQ mysteries we'd learn about then!

Perhaps that would make them not as much fun if they were no longer EQ mysteries, but surely it would be entertaining knowing who made all these crazy IRL references in the game and what drew their inspiration.
