Newbie here

Hi guys I've been listening about how great project 1999 is. I would like to join in, but problem is that I have never played EQ before. I played Runescape, Wow and other mmorpgs for years but never had opportunity to try EQ. After quick research I found out that this project is here for more years. I've got a question if it is not too late to jump on this train and if there is still solid player base. If yes don't you have some tips wich class should i try and which could be too difficult for a newbie :D thanks for a response

Yes people still play here, buncha dudes. Its old skool takes a while to ding but stick it out if u like it.
If u like melee monk is easy n cheap, try a magician otherwise - clerics clerics clerics as they say

If you've played oldschool MMOs you have a good chance of loving EQ as long as you make some good friends.

It's definitely not too late to have a blast experiencing EQ on p99 - the server is probably at its best right now from a coding perspective for the new player, and you'll find tons of people who are excited to help out a new person.

Good luck!

Yeah I already started and it's really great. I love it when it's really challenging to ding and not what has become of WoW nowadays. I rolled enchanter and it's cool, but I am still sometimes confused about game mechanics, but slowly I am trying to figure out things ;) hopefully we will see in a game ;)

Enchanter requires lots of ingame mechanics kowledge so you will be learning tons. GL with your adventure it's a fun ride!

P99 wiki has all the info you will need to start out. Take a look at all the classes and their spells/abilities and see what looks interesting to you. Generally most people start with necros mages or druids for easier soloing and less gear reliant, but at the end of the day try what looks most fun to you and don't be afraid to make multiple characters. Just keep in mind most classes don't come into their own until 30+

This ^
And even if you make it to 60, you still can get a whole new experience in the high end game.

Research the in-game "slash" commands and the programmable macro buttons. Your life will become 1000x easier (thus decreasing your frustration level accordingly), especially after you've added /loc to your hotbar for those "yep, I'm definitely going to die..." situations.

Ah, enchanter is a GREAT choice for a first character.

Very deep class - once you master charm soloing you can go kill dungeons by yourself. Huge versatility if you want to be in a group or fight alone.

You'll get the hang of it in no time. Make sure to keep asking on the forums for more advice.
