Real Men Play p99 On WinXP

Unfortunately, Discord don't work for shit on XP-gimped Firefox. Any alternative XP compatible browsers out there that'll actually run the aids-infested Discord site?

For a true classic experience, one should play P99 on Windows 95 or Windows 98. Win XP wasn't released until 2002 which makes it unclassic.

(I don't remember if EQ ran on Win95 at all back then, but I bet it did).

Incorrect. Release date for WinXP was 10/25/01

Shit's Classic

In terms of Windows 98, it is indeed supported by Titanium but I unfortunately found it to be incompatible with P99 last time I tried, in 2012. The P99 patch files apparently include a custom version of the file DSETUP.DLL which requires a newer version of DirectX than what's supported on Windows 98 (9.0c is what I had installed at the time). The game won't launch with P99's version, but when a proper DX9 version of the file is substituted in then P99 complains about outdated spell file. Again, this was in 2012 that I tried.

So yeah I've had to resort to sticking with my WinXP machine as well which yeah still feels plenty classic to me as that's what I mostly played EQ on originally!

I do wish I could play on my Win98 box though, mainly out of curiosity to see how the Voodoo2 SLI setup handles it. If I did that though I'd also have to force myself to use the original UI frame which is available around here somewhere.
