Been said alot-

Barbarian: best faction, least exp penalty
Ogre: frontal stun immunity (melee stuns)
Troll: awesome regen

Ogres end up getting better 50+ for their increased ability to melee solo. Troll regen doesn't seem quite so awesome 50+.

Iksar are more or less on the same boat as trolls only they get better innate AC.

There are also a couple items that only certain shaman races can use.

For example, iksar can't use Jaundiced Bone Bracer and only Inny worshipping trolls can get a snare clicky necklace.

So, seems like guineapig supported my answer. I shouldn't assume people know about the troll snare neck which besides the regen is the real reason to be a troll.

Most of those I know who experienced the shaman class at 60 in Kunark say Ogre is the best overall - including one who played a troll shaman.

Bashes from enemy mobs mean a lot less to an ogre - not just because of the "frontal stun immunity," but because frontal bashes don't interrupt their spellcasting. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, though. I haven't had my spellcasting interrupted by a bash in 10+ levels on my ogre shaman on this server, and am pretty sure I remember that being the case in live.

That's huge when dealing with multiple mobs or a very strong mob that you really need to land your slows on, or need to get off a quick heal...

I remember ONLY ogre shaman being able to solo some of the bigger more important spawns in the game during Kunark. Like Jugs...

The catch to frontal stun immunity though is that, when it comes to spell casting you aren't immune to mob push. If multiple mobs are on you at once then unless your back is to a wall you have a chance of getting pushed back like any other race and your spell will get interrupted if you do.

Something to keep in mind, ogres get spell interrupts too, especially if you are outdoors and there is nothing to back up against.
