My dad and I are both new to 99, both lvl 5, long time players checking out the scene. But obviously we cant play at the same time (IP issue), is there a way I can petition and have it changed where we both can play?

Yes. You can petition to have an ip expemption. Sometimes the requests can take a bit bc they handle them in batches so be patient.

Also do not abuse it. GMs do occasionally do random tests of ip exempt characters.

if one of you can create a hotspot with a mobile device, EQ takes very little data, you can both play because you would both have your own IP

The don't abuse it thing is key. It will be very tempting to log each others chars on for quick transfers/ports/etc. Don't.

Yeah hot spots or VPN. but only do this if you legit aren't a box. You will get busted and banned. There's no rule against legit having another player in a VPN while u wait for exemption

NO, DO NOT try to go around the system by using a vpn or hotspot. Follow the rules submit a petition and wait for the ip exemption.
