Project 1999 turns 12 or so this year.
 

I don't know how many users are still around from the old forum days, but this project has been in the works since AOL was still a thing. It's a big testament to the dedication that Nilbog and Rogean have put in just to keep us nerds happy. A decades worth of work with a volunteer staff, researching progression and trying to follow classic to a tee. For free. For us. It's time they could have used to develop their own game. To be the next Brad McQuaid. But no. They give what little time they have to let us relive our glory days and to let new players discover what community really means in an MMO. Thanks guys!

10 years since launch in October. P1999 almost as old as eq was when it launched. 20 years of eq coming up in a couple months! Feel old yet?

Not old, just experienced! ( and old... Smh.)

First let me say, pras Rogean and Nilbog.

I personally think its more a testament to the inept nature of modern computer gaming that we all are still on a 20 year old game, when I left original EQ in 2002 I never thought I would come back. I was one of those guys swept away in the early 2000s looking towards the future with bright eyes only to come crashing back to a rocky shore that is todays market.

EQ, imo, was a case of something starting out on the top of the mountain.

In the years to follow things would move to consoles, now its moving to mobile. Getting poked fun of in 2018 for talking about sound cards in another PC Game related forum.

Thank you, Rogean and Nilbog and the rest of the staff for doing what you do. Countless hours of entertainment over the course of years.

You will just buy a brain microchip that virtualizes and emulates 1999 in and endless loop.

Project 1999 has overtaken any original EQ experiences for me. I had this magic set of memories, and I didnt relive them. I surpassed them. I only ever got a classic necro to 49 on Rallos Zek before I left at luclin era. But this game has been going on far longer then the original did for its classic era, and I have a 53 Wizard, 54 bard, and various characters in the 20s. This has now been far more of my everquest experience then classic ever was.. And ive never been to this plane of knowledge that everyone says is their nostalga :p
