Qeynos badge of honor (third quest - rats question)
 

I screwed up the rats part of the quest accidentally handing a jar to a rat instead of the tile. Do I have to completely start over at this point since I had to hand in my 2nd badge to get the book that spawns the rats?

Yes

It sucks, but what Kav said is correct, you have to start over. Try doing the rat puzzle portion in 1st person view. You're much less likely to accidentally trade it to the wrong tile that way.

Happened to me too the first time i tried it. It really is a fun unique quest. With a real nice reward at the end.

This jar game is the best quest of any expansion.

I was doing the second quest and when I got the part where I am punching the suspect by the hermit shack in SK he never gave up, i beat him down to 50% for 45 minutes..investigator despawned.. now starting over.

anyone have any tips to avoid this the next time?

Make sure you only hit him once. I've done this quest 3 times on my first character, and I've noticed that sometimes the game will stop my auto attack after the first punch and sometimes it will not. If you hit him twice you are screwed, so I punch him and immediately sit to stop it for sure.
