Fastest leveling route for an Iksar Necro?
 

Looking to speedrun this game in a sense. I want to see how fast I can level (preferably solo) as an Iksar Necromancer.

Anyone care to suggest some optimal route?

If straight XP an hour is your goal you want to do as many dungeons as you can.

My leveling path back in 2011, all solo until 55+, went like this

1-10 FOB
10-23 kurns
23-30 giant fort warslik woods
30-43 Overthere (Little bit of Kaesora as well in this level range)
43-45ish FM Giant port
45-51 KC north wall
51-54 COM good steps + invis wall area
54-60 Mix between charming in HS basement and root/rot in COM. Grouping in Seb using shadowbond/dispel to heal group.


You can add Velks for root/rot 53+ I'd say. You can prboably find some lower level hp and higher xp mobs in more dungeons. This was with all shit gear with only Kunark under 6 months out. It will be easier now with the cheaper gear and Velious armor/gear available as well.

I actually peeped it out earlier today. It suggests xping in Oasis or farming the Storyswapper in Karana which both happen outdoors, meaning at a lower ZEM. Sounds like a fun time but not very efficient.

While we're at it, would Unrest be a good substitute for Kurn's at 12+?

If you don't kill any of the badgers in FOB, you can XP in kurns basement pretty safe just killing skeletons until 22 or 23.

Oasis Crocs is a solid spot since you can fear kite and they don't add as well.

I never did unrest since it can be tough to do solo.

The good thing about Sesserdrix's guide is he usually has multiple spots for different things per level range. One camp may be good for afk farming and another for active farming. Popular spots that are also good cash camps, and also places way off the beaten path you never have to worry about seeing a soul.

I even decided to try the OOT bird island in his guide even though he mostly warned against it just because I never knew it existed. I wish I still knew it never existed. It was horrendous. It did help me raise my swimming, I will give it that. Stay far away from that island, it is evil. You are welcome.

1-20 CB/befallen/Kurns/unrest
20-36/39 Hhk guards
36/39-44 Kaesora library
44-51 Bloodgills in Loio or Yetis in DL
51-55 Hhk bards and nobles / boshinko/ Isa / dyrna
55-60 HS or neriak arena w/ monk

THE FASTEST BY FAR

Nothing but HS once you hit 55+. Probably fastest leveling in the game if you know how to reverse charm.

Your first time playing EQ it seems. Especially if you're mentality is to "speedrun" through the leveling process. Seeing as most modern or relatively modern MMO's are not very rewarding till endgame comes around. This game was developed differently. But its your decision. Endgame here is elitist and cavalier. If thats something you're used to. You'll fit in. Maybe it isn't even within your interest to even participate in endgame. Maybe you want to stroke your nerdy ego or something. Who knows. Needless to say. Speeding through this game for your first time, is going to have you missing out on what makes it great.

You'd be crazy to do anything but Kurns as a Necro from 12-20. Not only is the ZEM insane there, but you should be able to stockpile enough bone chips in that time to last you well into your 50's.
