Anyone tried running EQ Titanium/1999 on Mac w/ Parallels Desktop?

This might not be the best place to ask since this doesn't specifically pertain to Project 1999 itself, but I figured this question might be more relevant here than anywhere else (and I'm sure there are some very tech-savvy people on these forums).

I have a Mac pro with Parallels desktop running a Windows 7 virtual machine. I've never had any problems installing/running PC only games on the Windows 7 portion until now.

After finally tracking down and acquiring Everquest Titanium I eager opened the box ready to venture onto EQ happiness. I began to install but immediately got stuck when it asked where to place the installation.

I tried to place it in Program files but received the message "You cannot install to your documents folder. Please select another location." Ok, so I try to place it under Users, same message. I tried about every folder I could and still received the same message. When I tried to just save it to desktop, I got the error "You cannot install to your desktop. Please select another location." I've tried every location available for the installation and cannot move past.

I went through the process on an older laptop and got up and playing in no time. I'd really like to run this on my main computer though! I googled the issue but oddly didn't find any discussion on this particular issue.

I'm guessing this has something to do with the fact that I'm running a virtual machine, but I'm confused because as far as the game knows, it's just being installed to Windows 7.

Once again, I apologize that this is not related to Project 1999 directly, but I don't know where else to go. Any thoughts, advice, or words of encouragement would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

I have not had any experience using parallels, ive used VMware though, and am (and prefer) to use Bootcamp to boot into windows partition on my macbook pro.

But have you tried installing it to C:\ ?

Bootcamp might be a good option for you. It will get full video acceleration too, while virtual machines generally dont.

I appreciate the response.

Yes I tried C:\. This is the only location I could select that EQ would recognize and give me the error message I described in my first post. Any time I tried to install to the actual desktop or other locations on the Mac OS, EQ didn't recognize the address as valid (which makes sense since the location address is something like \\.psf\Home\Desktop). I even configured Parallels so Windows would not share profiles at all with Mac, and still got the same message.

I will try bootcamp, as this seems much less hassle free than Parallels has proven to be. Just have to get my hands on a full-install copy of Windows :(

Thanks again.
