Alliance + Benevolence (BROKEN)
 

The following two spells are not working correctly and do not raise faction.

(Steps to reproduce)
Create an Enchanter
level 50
add/train Alliance and Benevolence
GM Teleport - /loc 73.85, -221.79, 3.75
target Tarn Visilin
cast Alliance
observe
cast Benevolence
observe

Alliance Results -
"SYSTEM RED ERROR MESSAGE" - Your spell did not take hold.

Benevolence Results -
Mob will aggro the player as if the player attacked the mob

Sadly, this has been an issue since server launch.
There are at least 5 different threads already that cover this topic.

Thankfully the only instance where I have really needed this spell line is at the brownie merchants (which I still can't purchase from). That being said, i am agnostic.

I feel bad for any enchanters that picked a religion because this spell line is vital for them. Also, the importance of this spell line increases substantially once Kunark and Velious are released with all those added new factions.


Anyway I'm glad you bring it up again but next time do a search before posting a bug report.
Both "Alliance" and "Benevolence" come up with results.

Yeah. Illusions are all well and good, but if you want to use the SolA banker (do I remember that correctly?) or mess with Velious factions, or bank in Chardok, or get over the hump when you are non-Agnostic...then the Alliance line of spells is huge.

only way i could get the spells from brownie merchant was to have a druid harmony the brownies. Then have a necro pull the merchant and FD, then you gotta charm the merchant and buy from him then. lull could work too but it is easier with the effect range of harmony.

Wow, that is so awesome that I need to drag a couple guildies all the way to LFay just to get some spells I should have been able to get by myself back in my mid-twenties.... :(

Anyway, thanks for the tip. I had hoped there was something easier than this method, but I guess that's what I have to do.

I just had a rogue sneak and buy them for me.

i have been able to use benvo on guard valon in WC, it brought me to threat to dub, among other npcs.

As for charming merchants in browny town? On live we weren't able to charm merchants, so that's got to be a bug.

I do believe on live i was able to illusion earth elemental + benvollance or higher level of the spell would get me apprehensive.

classic was earth ele for the merchant, but not here, i just made a noob and use sneak.
