I think it's disingenuous to call Trump supporters 'mental gymnasts.' Beliefs within the alt-right aren't intractable things like we are used to calling "beliefs." They adapt to context and targets as needs arise and change. Their only intractable goal is the defense of white authoritarianism. Any beliefs that may support or defend that goal [non-explicitly] may be adopted and discarded at any time to defend any point or attack any particular target.

I don't really get it. Everything appears to be hearsay, and the likely-hood that it'll pass the senate is slim. Pearl-clutching over strong-arming another nation, even if true, doesn't do anything for me. We've been at war almost the entirety of our nation's history. And the hegemonic power since WWII. We've been up to a lot of bad shit that current politicians have been around for. Pelosi was around when I was in high school in the 90s. These politicians have no principles outside of themselves and their donors. They need to keep us fighting so we don't arm ourselves and go after their mansions.

Both parties, love war, too big to fail banks, NSA collecting all your dick pics, and strong-arming weaker nations. None of them are for us. Trump's saving grace, if he had any grace at all, would be that he's not a career politician. He's just a sign of a larger problem.
