These used to be serverwide at launch
Any chance you'd do it here? Classic experience recreation and all that.

I was fairly sure P99 had this for a year or two? I vaguely remember getting spammed out when the highest guilds of the day did PoSky.

they removed bc people would make statements w playernames and it would be quite spammy

Recreating the classic experience is my #1 hope and that means this too

It seems like it'd be inconsistent with their mission for them to add unclassic "First" announcements without also adding classic duel announcements. But at the same time ... I am a little nervous about the spam.

Honestly, I sort of wish /duel came with a /silentduel (no announcement) or /formalduel (make the normal /duel silent, use this to announce) or something. Lots of duels in EQ are ... utilitarian. The formal duel the original devs imagined is really a special case.

Even on Blue, I always feel stupid when I help someone hammer or whatever and it announces to the zone that I beat them :)

It only tells you and the person you're dueling.

I want as many old timers as possible to come and see attention to detail, including things like this and feel like they really logged into an EQ launch server in 99
