Brand new to EQ - build suggestions?

I plan on starting on Green when it is released tomorrow. I think I played like 1 hour total of EQ at some point years ago.

I've played other MMO's.

What build would one suggest to a newbie?

Thanks!

There is no 'builds' in the sense that you are probably used to. Every instance of a player class in game will be exactly the same as another in terms of spells and abilities. With that said DPS classes are probably more beginner friendly. However, given the pace of the game there is plenty of time to familiarize with any class you decide to play.

I would say play a high elf/wood elf because they have the most populated starting areas and the easiest leveling path for newbies. As far as class you can pretty much try anything, it depends a lot on your preferences. For soloing/just being decent dps mage is noob friendly. People will always want clerics as well.

just read the classes and races guide and decide what you want to do.

There is a lot that every class can do. If you are OK at video games you can master any class.

Go with what sounds good IMO.

Hi brand new guy who is looking for a good build. These guides will help you select your class:

https://wiki.project1999.com/Choosin..._Playing_Style
https://wiki.project1999.com/Loraen%...election_Guide
https://wiki.project1999.com/Players:Newbie

In terms of "build", the only decision you have to make is how to spend your ability points, and if you consult the wiki for your class it will tell you the suggested way and you absolutely will not go wrong with that for your first guy. Everything else regarding character progression you don't have to worry about because progress is very slow and you'll have plenty of time to consult top men in the game. Top men!

Curious, what's making you try this pixelated disaster now?

Choose a human that starts in Freeport, doesn't matter which class or your starting points. First thing you do when you leave the safety of the newbie zone is run out to East Commonlands and find the welcoming Griffin.

Start EQ right. Also please post screen shots, thx.
