ETA on dot kite nerf?
 

I was just wondering if anyone had an idea when dots would be nerfed to not do full damage while kiting?

It was on the live servers after like 4-5 months. I think. So 2-3 months still.

Thank you very much for the reply. I just wanted an idea how many levels I could milk this low-risk strategy. Sounds like by the time it's nerfed I should be quad kiting anyways.

I'm quite sure dots do not do full dmg on kite currently. It takes me like 11 mins to snare dot kite an ice giant and like 6 to root rot one. Did you confirm this dmg somehow that I could be mistaken?

Assuming your a Druid. Even 66 percent dmg kiting red con's in the 20s and 30s is a pretty vise strategy assuming you are swarm dotting.

It's ridiculously easy to test. I did test it with my sham on green, and dots did the same damage on rooted targets, on stationary-but-unrooted targets, and on moving targets chasing a player.

I threw one VOTS on a level 30 guard. The instant VOTS wore off, I screenshotted exact spot of his HP bar. I logged out without killing him, then came back in and when he had regenned, repeated with different conditions. HP bar ended at the same spot every time.

Sometimes I wish I weren't so lazy. I've done some comparisons around levels 31-35 with gnolls and it seemed about the same damage dot kiting and root rotting after accounting for the damage my roots were doing. I've been messing around at hill giants lately and they do take forever to kill with this strategy, but root rotting still feels like the only difference is it's more dangerous and I get some extra damage from my roots. I'll admit though, i haven't tried root rotting with giants hardly at all.

I've sort of assumed since most people I talked to in game say dots do full damage while kiting. It would actually be nice to hear any other people's experiences with this.

And some proper tests from somebody not as lazy as I am. Thanks for confirming this, Techmos.
