Are vendor weapons worth it?
 

I'm playing a barb shaman around level 9 and I have a 5 damage 32 delay Cracked Staff. A dwarf vendor has a 6 damage 29 delay Spear for 11pp and my entire net worth on the server is 12p. Is the investment worth it?

No. You should be saving money to buy spells and not be worried about weapons. If you want a spear bad enough, go to west karana where bandits are being farmed and offer a player a couple plat for a bronze spear.

They sell back for almost their same cost, so yes.

If you do bandits you will make a boatload of money off them. Look up bandit sash quest.

Think of those weapons as rentals rather than as purchases; you can resell them for 80-90% of their upfront cost. On my shaman, I used a vendor spear until I replaced it with a combine spear for a magic weapon (works similar for resale), and I think the spear was a perfectly valid use of its 1-2p net cost.

I have a Runed Totem Staff that you can have for free if it'll help you until you get something better.

My bard used a vendor bought Short Sword for many levels. Sold it back for almost what I paid for it. It cost 2pp so totally worth it.

Also don't buy stupid useless spells.

Hp buff, heal, dot. As a shaman that low you can have tank anything. Consider using 2hb for better dps.
