Does anyone help clarify the history of changes made to the Short Sword of Morin?

I've found references indicating that both stat and graphical changes to this weapon.

The earliest graphical reference I can find is here:

Notice that the icon of the short sword is the same as a regular short sword. Also note that the information for the weapon does not indicate whether it is PRIMARY or SECONDARY. This can also be used to date this screenshot as historically older than other screenshots for comparison.

It was at some point changed to the curved blade as recognizable as the Short Sword of Ykesha:

The ZAM entry has a lot of references for this:

Somewhere they snuck in a new look, I just got this weapon today, and they have changed the graphic from a boring old stardard short sword, to the "bent sword" look, such as the Kanji (sp?) and some of the Yaks.

This sword is also +3 AGI, I think they added that when they changed the graphic so it would look like a SSOY.
Does anyone have any recollection of these changes or any further evidence or timeline for these changes?
