So, there are Zero spells that are reaserch-only in Kunark? If so, I wonder what the thinking was back then that led to that?

Kunark actually made it easier to get words for spells, now your not limited to just the old and sometimes crowded zones for farming words. At least in my case running out to OOT sister island as a dark elf was not fun, but if I wanted my pet that's where I had to go.

But in order to have more spells under research, more words would have to be created, and there are too many already, I'm starting on a 4th bag in my bank and I'm only 35th level. Doesn't leave much room for anything else.

He means none of the kunark spells (51+, breeze) are research only.

Research was a dead Tradeskill in Kunark/Velious. It wasn't until Luclin did it get the revamp with the Quill/Parchment etc.

So get it to 184 (trivial for 49) OR just buy yer spells. Prolly cheaper to buy yer spells cuz most people will just hook you up with them, altho for Wizards Ice Comet is only available via No-Drop Research components (meaning you hafta do it yerself) or dragon drop.

Because research was a retarded mechanic that everyone hated. The point was to make casters have to go out and fight for their spells (the same way that a warrior needs to group at lord to get a yak). Making the complete spells just drop inherently streamlined the process and got rid of the extra bullshit.

Research was later revamped only because people thought it was too difficult to get class defining spells like KEI and people cried.
