Weapon dps and dual weild
Hey all-
Can someone give me a refresher on how this works, or link me to the appropriate information? My two weapons: Sainy's Claw: Delay 19, Damage 6 Sainy's Singing Dagger: Delay 22, Damage 7 My questions: which has the higher dps, which should be used in mainhand, which in offhand, and why? Thanks! |
The claw has higher dps and should be in main hand unless you are a rogue...

He's a bard, hence the Sainy's weapons.
Use the best ratio in the main hand for best dmg modifier and thus best DPS Use the faster weapon in the offhand for more swings. |

fastest in MH to take advantage of flat damage bonuses being added more frequently (generally, but there are exceptions). best ratio in offhand. |
do bards get damage bonus?
BTW to find a DPS ratio of a weapon divide delay by dmg So 6/19 weapon is = 0.315 7/22 weapon is = 0.318 the dagger is a tiny bit better :D |

err yeah :D
Just wanted to say that on the server I played on LIVE 99% of people always listed weapons as Dmg/Dly, , which is identical to how you calc the DPS However I have seen some other servers using reverse notation of Dly/Dmg, and diving this way too, in which case smaller number means more dmg so 19/6 = 3.16 and 22/7= 3.14 which usually causes confusion between people who got used to different notations =) |
Holding constant ratio and/or procs lower delay in primary slot is better. The reason for this is that primary weapons receive a dmg bonus that is independent of weapon's stats. Although I believe this does not set in until around lvl 30 and increases as you get higher level.
With that in mind generally you want low delay in primary hand, but don't put a much worse ratio in primary slot just to lower the delay a bit since your primary will still be swinging each time and not have to check on your dw skill. In your case I would primary the 6/19. unless of course you are a rogue then things are more complicated. |
Thanks for the info everyone.
