Lol well to her credit she didn’t grow up with the cousin. The brain doesn’t recognize blood relatives, it associates family with proximity. This is why adopted siblings from different parents who grow up together still get positioned in each other’s minds the same as biological siblings with the same parents: as a sibling first and only

I noticed the same thing happen with me personally with my step cousin. She was the daughter of someone who married my aunt. But from about age 13 onwards she was at every family party and outting, and my brain just associated her the same as my bio cousins. I had friends after my aunt divorced her dad mention “dude your step cousin is really hot, she’s not your cousin by blood and they aren’t even married anymore, you should ask her out”. But my brain just didn’t see her as a romantic possibility from having grown up together

Anyway long story short proximity growing up together is what positions people as family in the brain, more than blood

This is true:

I come from a military family, my dad passed when i was younger and my mom remarried years later, I had met my older stepsister and she is a fat nerd, but the younger one was deployed in iraq/afghanistan, so i expected some bull dyke who would eat me for breakfast.

So later on the family gets together and my step sis shows up, I was like, WTF, I looked at my new step dad and I was like, WTF BRO

Turns out my younger step sis is a Major in the Army, she's fuckin' gorgeous and perfectly built.

Then the family goes camping, and we shared a case of beer by the fire one night, a case. then we woke up in the same sleeping bag. Clothes were still on, thank god.

It was awkward AF but she still randomly sends pics of borderline elicit shit

I'm still really awkward around her though, hot soldier chicks are my kryptonite and she knows it

Ya I deleted that post because I felt like was rambling on but yup, you noticed it too. Proximity = family. If someone wasn’t around when you were growing up, you are much more likely to see them as a romantic possibility

I usually shoot poorly. The range I practice at has 20 yard targets. Today I got a little angry. I think intent has a lot to do with accuracy.
