It's a more obnoxious version of the argument clinic. Whoever enters into the conversation automatically loses or wins because they're [trending word]. If it's already a trend, you've adopted an old way of articulating a supposed radically new thought. It's in the same category as all of those other colloquialisms. Virtue signal. Cancel culture. George Carlin would have had a field day with it all, or just vomitted on stage.
