Possibly. A lot of the best were pretty polarizing in their own times. It's possible some folks such as Polk or C. Arthur might've had decent cross-party respect since history doesn't seem to record all that much hostility towards them. More recently I'll argue that Bush (first) was decently respected; sure there was opposition, sometimes strong opposition, but I don't remember it being hateful opposition. Same might be said for Carter, even his political opponents seemed to regard him as a smart dude in the wrong job rather than as a horrible person or anything like that.

Biden himself does not bother me. Some of the folks behind him bother me a great deal, but the man himself doesn't beyond that he's obviously too old.
